When planning travel for a vacation, look into a vacation package instead of booking your flight, hotel, and car rental from separate places. Usually you can find a great deal that will save you hundreds of dollars by booking them in a package form and will also save you time of booking from all the separate companies.

When traveling with small children, get to the airport early. To make your time at the airport as stress-free as possible when traveling with kids, allow yourself plenty of time. If possible, check in and get seat assignments online prior to leaving for the airport. Always bring something along to keep the kids entertained, in case of delays. Some airports have a play area for children, so it is worth looking into that, especially if you have a really long wait.

Use ice to make your coffee while staying at a hotel. If you love your morning cup of coffee, do not use the tap water to brew the coffee. Instead, fill the coffee maker in your room with ice cubes the night before, and let them melt. Ice machines use filtered water, and your taste buds will enjoy the difference.

Ease ear pressure in children during the airplane’s take-off and landing. Babies and small children are incapable of clearing their ears to help reduce the pressure that comes along with take-off and landing. Feeding your baby a bottle, nursing, or giving them a pacifier to suck on will help greatly. Older children can chew on a piece of gum to help clear their ears.

Make sure you really need that car before renting in your travel plans. Many of the world’s cities have excellent public transportation that is much less expensive than dealing with auto travel. Also the hassle of parking a car can be stressful in large cities and extremely expensive even parking at the hotel.

When you have decided where to take your annual recreation travel trip, your next step is to make your plans. Do you want the straightest, shortest drive, or do you want to take it easy and travel side roads? Either way, pull out your map and highlight your driving plans.

When traveling with your dog, always be sure that s/he is properly trained and acclimated to any sort of setting you may enter. S/he should be thoroughly leash and voice command trained and kept on leash at all times during travel and when visiting tourist destinations. By being in complete control of your pet during travel, you assure its safety.
